The gods did not leave. They were silenced. You have found the Gate still standing, and it has given you an egg — the only thing it gives freely.

Your Guardian's welcome gift is ready to claim.
One thing, once. Then you will not be asked again.
The Long Silence is a narrative role-playing game built on 167 hand-written deity entries across eight pantheons. It is a game about mythology and it takes those mythologies seriously.
The old stories contain violence, grief and cruelty, and some of these traditions are darker than others. Deities and pantheons carrying that material are marked, and opening one asks you to confirm your birthdate first. Everything else is open to anyone.
Each deity was written by hand. The voice that answers you is generated live by an AI model working from that writing. It will stay in character and it will remember what you have told it, but it is not a person, not a spirit, and not a channel to anything. It can be wrong. Nothing it says is religious instruction, divination, medical advice, legal advice or counselling, and it should not be treated as any of those.
Playing is free and stays free — the world, the entries, the Gate and your Guardian. There is an in-game shop with subscription tiers, one-off unlocks and bundles, and it does not open to anyone under 18. Talking to the gods is the part that costs real money to run, because every reply is generated live, which is why conversation is where the limits sit.
Your progress and your conversations are kept in this browser. The gods remember you here, on this device. Clear your browser data and that memory goes with it. What you type does travel to the model that voices the reply, because that is how a reply gets written — it is not kept there.
The Long Silence is presented by the Temple of the Obsidian Moon. Playing it is not joining anything, and the Circles inside the game are in-game groups with no connection to the Temple's real congregation.
